The plane crash killed one person and seriously injured two others in North Lindenhurst, New York on Sunday afternoon.

Roma Gupta, 63, of Readington Township in Hunterdon County, and her daughter Reeva Gupta, 33, of St. Davids, Pennsylvania, were aboard a Piper PA 28, single-engine plane piloted by Fayzul Chowdhury, 23, of the Bronx, New York, at 2:18 p.m. on Sunday when it took off from Republic Airport in East Farmingdale, according to Suffolk County Police Department.
The plane was attempting an emergency landing when it crashed at 2:58 p.m. near the intersection of Wellwood Avenue and 5th Street in North Lindenhurst, approximately 300 feet south of the Long Island Rail Road track, according to police. The exact cause of the plane crash remains unknown, according to a preliminary accident/incident report from the Federal Aviation Administration.
