The woman allegedly told police she wanted to hit her baby’s father, but he was not in sight “and she just wanted to hit someone,” the prosecutor said.

A judge ordered Mikayla A. Rodriguez-Green’s release with various conditions, including home detention, on Friday.

During a detention hearing Friday, which was held via video with the defendant appearing from Salem County Correctional Facility, Rodriguez-Green sat quietly. She only answered yes or no questions from the judge and her attorney. “We do have a statement where she says she hit the gas, she turned the wheel a little bit and then hit the girls standing on the corner,” the prosecutor said.

In a taped statement to police, Rodriguez-Green also admitted to running into the teens intentionally, the prosecutor said. “Obviously she exercised very, very poor judgement,” Blinn said, adding that her client now recognizes the severity of her actions.
