The 38-year-old South Brunswick man was wanted in Volusia County, Florida.
South Brunswick police seized electronic devices from Golden’s home when they arrested him, officials said. Questions about charges in Florida were referred to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, which couldn’t immediately be reached.
The threat against the sheriff is related to his office’s efforts to crack down on recent activity by a hate group, officials said. “The anonymous nature of the internet may make people feel they can say anything, but if you make threats or put people in fear we will use all our resources to track you down,” South Brunswick police chief Raymond Hayducka said in a statement. “Yesterday showed that being 974 miles away from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office was no distance too great for the teamwork of law enforcement.”Volusia County is along the Atlantic Ocean in east-central Florida. Daytona Beach is its most prominent city.
