One expert said it could be a shark

Wildlife trust conservationists have been unable to rule out a headless fish washed up on a Lincolnshire shore may have been a shark. The corpse, discovered on a beach near Trusthorpe, has led beachgoers and experts to speculate as to the species the fish belongs to.

She said: "The headless fish looks like it could be a shark - possibly a catshark, with a loss of colouring as it decomposes. It was probably dinner for another fish or had an interaction with fishing equipment or another human activity."Though the exact species remains unclear. The corpse was spotted by Val Leawood, 65, at around 2pm on July 13, while she was on a walk with a local group. She said: "We couldn't identify what it was because it's got no head.

Ms Leawood also noticed a flatfish close by but quickly ruled out a stingray due to the temperature of the waters. She had spoken to some fishermen earlier, who had been catching flatfish, but said what had washed up on the shore was 'nothing like what they had caught'.
