Myles Garrett is loving the high expectations placed on him by D-coordinator Jim Schwartz, and looking forward to his matchup with a familiar foe in the Ravens on Sunday.
In 10 career games against the Ravens for Garrett, the Browns have gone 4-6. He started off slow sack-wise going against Baltimore early in his career, recording 1.5 sacks in his first six games against them -- a span that starts with Cleveland’s Week 15 loss in 2017 and goes to the Week 14 Monday night shootout in 2020 that the Browns lost 47-42.
“He’s such a special athlete and specimen,” Ravens tight end Mark Andrews told reporters this week. “He’s so good at what he does, so this is one of those weeks where you have to be ready to go, or guys like him and other guys on that defense are going to make you pay.” This week, Schwartz said he thinks there’s “still meat on the bone” when it comes to Garrett’s production, which makes sense. The Bengals and Steelers especially worked to get the ball out quick going against the Browns pass rush, so the sack opportunities weren’t as plentiful.“I love it,” Garrett said. “I’ve had coaches like that all my life. Whether it’s high school, college and up. They see something in you that sometimes you can’t see in yourself, and I agree with him.
Garrett has enjoyed going against Stanley over the years, but says not much will change for the Browns based on his availability.
