You’d be forgiven for thinking Liverpool bosses must have their Bayern Munich counterparts on speed dial these days.
This week alone the Reds have been linked with a further two Bavarian players in Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala, while summer speculation also tipped them to move for Joshua Kimmich and Benjamin Pavard. You wonder how long it'll be before the likes of a Mathys Tel, Matthijs de Ligt, or Alphonso Davies find themselves subjected to similar treatment.
Still only 20, the midfielder would fit the Reds’ transfer model. With his peak years firmly in front of him, he would improve with Liverpool, if they were to sign him, while still possessing a significant resale value. Coming off the back of Liverpool links with Sane as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah earlier this week, it would be easy, albeit slightly lazy, to suggest that Musiala would be a better fit for such a role. Returning 16 goals from 47 appearances last season, along with a further 16 assists, the 20-year-old has already matched his senior team-mate’s career-best goalscoring return for a campaign, after all.
