Annie Evans was overweight as a child and young adult, which she attributes to being complimented for finishing all the food on her plate when she was growing up
A Nottinghamshire mum once told she was "too fat to be a bridesmaid" has shared how she lost three stones and changed her life. .
The mum-of-two said this created a deep-seated relationship with food and overeating, which lasted more than 20 years. But two decades ago 51-year-old Annie decided to shed three stones and has managed to maintain a healthy weight ever since. She explained the compulsion to eat too much, which had formed during her childhood, was hard to break but was eventually overcome with the help of her local Slimming World group. "When I first walked into my group my stomach lurched as my confidence was so low, I was so nervous, but with the friendliness and support of the group I saw the weight melt away," she said."With [Slimming World's] Food Optimising I was amazed that I could eat so much and watch the pounds drop off.
“Although I have had two children and gained weight on several occasions, I have never returned to the original three stones over that I was. My body health and my mental health have been so much better since 2001,” she added. Now Annie has decided to become a Slimming World consultant as she has in her words “plenty of experience of weight loss management” and hopes to inspire others. She will relaunch a group on Thursday, September 7 in Carlton, Nottinghamshire at Gedling Road Methodist Church at 9am and 11.30am.
