Yummy Green on Allerton Road does Chinese takeaway with a big difference
Mey Lieu, 44, owns Yummy Green on Allerton Road and for around the past 19 months she has been serving all the things you would expect from a Chinese takeaway, but with a twist - all the dishes are vegan or vegetarian. Mey has been a vegetarian herself for seven years, and before taking over the shop she was a stay at home mum, raising her two daughters.
Mey told the ECHO: "A lot of people think its hard, but not it is so different not eating meat I've been a vegetarian for seven years. That's part of the reason I changed everything. On the menu are all the Chinese takeaway classics - Char-Siu 'pork,' salt and pepper 'chicken,' 'prawn' toast included. But Mey said it was not easy getting to the point where they could sell the huge range they do as vegetarian and vegan.
