The mum took to social media to see if she was in the wrong for not wanting to give her friend anymore money

A Mum says she feels 'extremely guilty' after ignoring her indebt friend's money requests. The woman claims she has already given her friend £600 to help ease her money problems but she is asking for more, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A few days later, the mum then lent her friend an additional £500 but told her not to worry about paying it back until after Christmas. Since then, the woman claims her friend has been in touch several times for more cash stating she is 'struggling mentally' over her debts. "He also doesn't know it was £500 I lent her out of my savings, just that I lent money. I'm not working as I'm starting my own business, so DH is the only income we have so it is really up to him.

The mum's dilemma was one that sparked interest across social media, with people keen to give their thoughts on the situation. Some users believed the mum was in the right and shouldn't speak to her friend. A third added: "You're not getting your £500 back. She is taking advantage." Another person agreed stating: "I think you'll be lucky to ever see that 500 again.Someone else believed the money was never a loan, stating: "Well you haven't lent her the money. You've given it to her.
