UK news: Mum, 38, told she just had a sinus infection dies after devastating hospital trip
A mum-of-two who went to the doctors complaining of sickness and migraines has died of a brain tumour aged just 38.
Her husband David drove her to A&E at Whiston Hospital in Prescot, where an MRI scan revealed she had a brain tumour. The tumour was removed by surgeons at The Walton Centre in Liverpool, and Jennifer was sent for six months of concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.David said: “We had a good couple of years when the disease was stable and we were able to work through Jen’s bucket list, such as trips to Florida and Lapland.
Jennifer, mum to Emmy, 10, and Aria, seven, died at her home in St Helens with her loving family by her side. Despite everything she faced, Jennifer managed to raise more than £2,000 for the charity Brain Tumour Research. David is now supporting Brain Tumour Research’s calls to increase Government funding to study the disease. The charity needs to reach 100,000 signatures on its petition to increase research funding, in the hope of prompting a parliamentary debate.
It says the increase in research investment would put brain tumours in line with the spend on cancers of breast, bowel and lung, as well as leukaemia.
