The lavish Disney remake’s Chinese release has been delayed indefinitely—but the studio is still planning to debut the film in American theaters this month
Major festivals, events, and sporting tournaments across the world have been cancelled due to the global coronavirus outbreak. But on Monday night, Disney’s“We hope Mulan’s fighting spirit continues to inspire around the world,” directortold 3,400-plus guests at the Dolby Theatre before screening the film. “Our hearts go out to everyone in China and to the world affected by the coronavirus. Our deepest respect goes out those working so hard to battle this disease.
“We have a lot of empathy. We are focused more on the people and not about the film’s release in China,” he said. “We may very well face the same closures here in the U.S. and around the world. We just have to adapt.”
