ByMetropolitan Transportation Authority board members are considering calling for a ban on the use of public transport by repeat offenders who commit crimes in New York City’s transit system.

During a committee meeting on Monday, board members voted in favor of a resolution asking New York state lawmakers to authorize courts to prevent recidivists from using the city’s subways and buses, at least for some amount of time. Such a ban would include repeat sex offenders, thieves and robbers, among other felons.
