Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh has urged the government not to allow “some bean counter in the Treasury” to slam the brakes on plans for a direct train service from London to North East Lincolnshire. Rumours of a return to action for a direct train route from Cleethorpes to London have been rumbling under the surface for years now — some 30 years after it was taken out of service.Tributes continue to pour in for a much-loved Lincoln man after a body was discovered in the River Witham.Campaigners from Holbeach celebrated as South Holland District Council turned down a controversial proposal for a 48MW solar farm.
The public gallery erupted in loud applause after the decision was announced at Wednesday’s Planning Committee meeting, with locals saying that a “precedent has been set” for future applications.
