Motorway closures and roadworks on the M6, M65, M60, M57 this week and in October
Drivers in Lancashire are being warned about roadworks in and around Lancashire due to take place this week.
Essential work is set to take place to remove and replace the existing road surface and waterproofing system at two bridges, the Whittingham Lane Bridge and Stewart’s Wood Bridge, at Junctions 32 and 33. National Highways estimates all work will be completed on Friday 11 November but warns the dates above may need to be extended if affected by weather.There will be safety barrier replacement work from today , lasting until the end of May next year. This will take place between junction 7 and Junction 10 of the M65.
Sections of temporary steel lane barriers and a 50mph speed limit will be in place throughout the scheme. Work will be undertaken overnight , when traffic levels are at their lowest..Repair work to both carriageways will start on October 17, from the roundabout to the A56/A560/B6527 junction near to Rawtenstall. It will involve resurfacing 15km of carriageway and replacing road markings and is aimed to finish by the end of January 2023.
