A mother interrupted Lucy Letby allegedly attacking her newborn son while he was being treated in a neonatal unit and the nurse sent her away, a jury has been told.All of the alleged victims were premature or sick babies being treated in the unit where Letby was working as a nurse.
“She recalls Lucy Letby attempting to reassure her that the blood was due to the nasogastric tube irritating his throat,” said Mr Johnson. Child E’s mother did leave the unit after around five minutes, the court heard, but was so concerned about what she had witnessed that she phoned her husband.Child E continued to lose large amounts of blood, the court heard, and at around 00.36am CPR commenced.Mr Johnson alleged Letby later made “fraudulent” notes that were “designed to cover her tracks”.
