What should have been a Mother's Day full of laughs and smiles turned into worry and heartbreak for one family.
Police say on Sunday morning around 8:30 a man behind the wheel of a stolen dump truck made a decision that left a woman fighting for her life.
Police blocked off 120th Avenue after the driver of a stolen dump truck tried to make a u-turn on a dead-end street.There is some type of altercation and the woman walked toward the truck attempting to stop him. The woman walked away and seconds later, the driver stepped on the gas, hitting a parked SUV that slammed into another car - pinning the 48-year-old mother in between.
The woman's daughter then screamed for help as the driver took off, leaving the mother struggling for her life. As the victim fights for her life in the hospital, police found the truck with front-end damage a mile away in front of a church. "I saw this construction truck here, but I was just thinking that it was a truck here, you know doing some work," said Lena Wilson.Police say the truck was stolen from a construction company and the investigation is ongoing.on reckless drivers in response to a spike in pedestrian accidents.
