, the movie will be set in both Hollywood and the Netherrealm and is centered around Johnny Cage, who wasn’t in the previous film. It takes place in the 1980s and has Johnny going after his missing costar, which sends him in a “world filled with shadows, danger, and deceit.” Johnny then faces a “sinister secret society plotting a nefarious scheme” and fights Netherrealm’s warriors.
