“I think dance saved a lot of people, people I know personally, and even myself. It saved us from doing things we didn't have any business doing.'
From McLeod’s perspective, the synchronicity between who she is outside and inside of the art of Jit is glaring. She said that as she grew within the art form, she was simultaneously growing as a person.
She said she feels that her heavy involvement in Jit has helped to curb her anger by using it as a creative outlet. Her peers in the field are also known to embody conflict resolution through the dance. “Dance can look like a lot of different things for everyone, and I think that's good to see because usually when people first see dance, they only see it in a few different ways,” McLeod said. “That's why Red Bull’sis important for people to see that. It's important for people to see the regional influences like how you have Chicago footwork versus Detroit Jit. Even though we're very closely connected, you can see the differences between the two.
