According to Chicago Police Department data, 44 people were shot in 36 separate shootings between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
The teen was stopped at a red light shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday when shots were fired into the car near the 4700 block of South Kedzie Avenue. The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 19-year-old female, also in the car, received a graze wound to the head and was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital in good condition. No one is in custody.
Among those killed were a 31-one-year-old man, who was one of three people shot when approximately 40 rounds were fired into their vehicle while stopped at a light in the 2000 block of West 87th Street, at 1:10 a.m. Saturday. The man was struck in the head and transported to Christ hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
On Saturday at 1:40 a.m., a 31-year-old man was shot while standing on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. He was wounded in the chest and taken to Illinois Masonic in critical condition, where he died. An unindentified male victim with multiple gunshot wounds was discovered Sunday at 5:55 a.m. near an alley in the 6900 block of South Talman Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds while traveling in a vehicle at 10:40 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West 83rd Street. The victim was taken to Christ hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
