With more than 15 million people across California under flood alerts, heavy rain is set to return after an overnight pause before becoming widespread overnight.

As much as over a foot of rain is expected for parts of Northern California at higher elevations throughout the next seven days, with 5 to 10 inches of rain expected across Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.
