Get ready for more snow as Winter Storm Warnings were just extended into Wednesday.
SALT LAKE CITY — Another intense winter storm with snow, blowing wind and overall low visibility had Utahns digging out once again and questioning when this winter leave the Beehive State alone.And it may not be over yet.
Beyond several inches, mountain areas such as Alta and Snowbird reported they received more than two feet of powder on top of their already massive snow totals. Alta hit a milestone of having received 800 inches of snow last week and had to close shortly after hitting the milestone for similar weather-related dangers.
The canyon closure, though it may be annoying to some, is for good reason as the National Weather Service reports that Little Cottonwood Canyon is one of the highest-risk roads in North America. Logan Canyon also scheduled to shut down traffic at 3 p.m. Tuesday for avalanche mitigation work. The Canyon will be closed near the Dugway and Beaver Point and it's unclear when it's expected to reopen.
A lake effect band of snow meant snow came down especially hard in areas throughout the Wasatch Front Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service said the band of lake effect snow gradually shifted East across the Salt Lake Valley Tuesday morning. In that crash, a semi-truck rolled over and a photo captured by troopers showed the truck blocking all lanes of traffic.
