MoonKnight director Mohamed Diab previews what's to come in next week's finale: 'I hope it's a satisfying wrap-up to our story. I feel it is.'
Mohamed Diab, the director of Moon Knight's upcoming finale, has given some small hints regarding what audiences can expect from the surprising conclusion. Out of Moon Knight's six total episodes, five have aired so far, with the penultimate installment leaving off with quite the shocking cliffhanger. Diab also took up the director's chair for Moon Knight episodes 1, 3, and 5, and he got the chance to close out the twisty, fascinating show.
Moon Knight episode 5, titled"Asylum," sees the dual personalities of Marc Spector and Steven Grant stuck in a realm of the afterlife, on a boat with the Egyptian goddess Taweret . Desperate to return to Earth and stop the villainous Arthur Harrow , Marc and Steven must retrace their life's journey and unveil the truth about the former's pain. Coming clean about this truth would balance the Scales of Justice, which is required in order to return to the land of the living.
"I hope it's a satisfying wrap-up to our story. I feel it is. There are some surprises. I think the audience deserves a big action sequence, but it's more than that. It has some twists and turns, and I really feel like it's a satisfying ending to our journey." Previous Marvel shows like WandaVision and Loki have enjoyed successful runs, yet earned some criticism when it came to their finales. Too often, the MCU shows released to Disney+ seem to rush through their conclusions while actively setting up future Marvel projects. However, as Moon Knight has contained few references to the broader universe, perhaps its finale will have an advantage.
With the recent word that Moon Knight's finale may have the shortest runtime of any live-action MCU Disney+ show so far, there could still be cause for concern, as there's a lot of story it will have to cram in. Hopefully there will be enough time to resolve everything that's been set up over the previous five episodes, including Layla's status, Harrow's mission, and Khonshu's imprisonment.
