Directors JustinHBenson and AaronMoorhead on the infinite possibilities of MoonKnight and why this show was mostly kept separate from the rest of the MCU 🌙
He's an outsider, and he's something very different than the rest of that universe. And that's also something that emboldened us to take some unusual risks with it.
: It's such an interesting thing, too, when you work in this realm. The idea of a fight scene – it's like,"OK, when people can't talk anymore, they fight." And there's an operatic thing to that. It can be so beautiful and so wonderful, and it can express so much.
And it's funny, though – that's not even just an independent film thought that we've been working on. Think about. It has nine different genres in it. You know, it's horror and comedy and romance – and, of course, action-adventure and fantasy and sci-fi. : We're pretty sure that there's not much conflict between the type of horror that we do in our independent films, which is psychological or cosmic or based on primal fears… That's actually… all the elements that are inare in our movies as well. So there's not really much of a butting of heads over gore or something like that.: Making sure thatwas something that could completely stand alone as a character was one of the foundations of doing this entire project.
