Farm and exotic animals like snakes, archery and roping were some of the many things at this year’s festival.
“Our goal is to bring kids from the urban areas from the city to introduce them to the agricultural side to see things they probably see on the side of the road but don‘t understand,” said the Montgomery County Farm-City Committee Chairman Tim Nestor.
For more than 20 years, organizers have put on the festival for the next generation of Alabama farmers and to know the importance of the industry in the state. “The food and fiber that we all take advantage of it every day comes from our land, and this is our opportunity to partner with some great folks like the Montgomery County Farmers Federation, the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, and showcase the beauty we have in Pike Road and invite people to come out and be a part of this,” said Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone.
