For subscribers: Kari Lake leans on Trump as Karrin Taylor Robson surges in GOP race for Arizona governor. Katie Hobbs has wide lead over Democrat rivals' fundraising.

Kari Lake paid another $34,000 for a fundraiser at Donald Trump's Florida mansion and Karrin Taylor Robson doubled what she put into her own Republican gubernatorial campaign, adding another $2 million in the first months of the year as the race to replace Gov. Doug Ducey heats up.

With four months before the primary election, large numbers of Arizonans are still undecided about who will be their pick. But the first months of the year saw a shift in standing in the GOP primary, according to multiple polls. While Lake continues to lead the Republican field, observers say the contest is still competitive and note Taylor Robson's gains, likely from her willingness to spend her own fortune on a television advertising blitz.

Taylor Robson, a developer and former member of the Arizona Board of Regents, put another $2 million of her own money into her campaign this year, bringing self funding to just shy of $4 million for the cycle. Lake has increasingly attacked Taylor Robson, saying the developer was relying on her husband's financial backing and trying to buy elected office, among other jabs.

The remaining four candidates in the GOP field have continued fundraising efforts as they seek to get their messages before voters. And Paola Tulliani Zen, a former owner of La Dolce Vita biscotti company, put $1 million of her own money into her campaign last year and added just $225 in donations this quarter. But she hasn't started significant spending, ending the quarter with $1.1 million in the bank.

"Arizonans know they can trust Matt to stand up for conservative values, and that's why he remains the best candidate for governor," Salmon spokesman Colin Shipley said.Hobbs continues to lead the trio of Democrats hoping to flip control of the state, bringing in $748,000 in the first three months of the year, more than what her two rivals have raised combined.
