There is now a bill in Congress aimed at giving people with disabilities and older Americans more of a voice in emergency situations.
, known as theAccording to the bill’s sponsors, it would ensure there is “a strong disability and older adult voice in the preparation, response, recovery and mitigation of disasters.”
“Whether it’s a pandemic, a natural disaster or a human made emergency, older adults and people with disabilities need to be considered in both planning and response,” said Sen. Bob Casey , sponsor of the Senate bill. Another proposal focuses on giving Congress back more power to end national emergencies like a pandemic.
