Cards closer Carlos Martinez gave up a two-run homer to Ronald Acuña Jr. and a solo shot to Freddie Freeman in the ninth, but got the final four outs to seal the win.The Cardinals rallied for six runs in the final two innings, getting things started in the eighth on a booming solo home run to left by Paul Goldschmidt. But the most important at-bat of the night may have come from pinch-hitter Matt Carpenter with two outs and runners at first and second.

In the bottom of the eighth, with two outs and the go-ahead run on second base, Cardinals manager Mike Shildt called on Martinez to face Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson, who had put Atlanta ahead with an infield single his last time up.
