Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell appeared to have another bout of verbal paralysis Wednesday when asked if he plans to vie for reelection in 2026.
for the second time in as many months Wednesday, this time during an event in his home state of Kentucky.
McConnell, 81, was in the middle of a back-and-forth about the prospect of running for another six-year term in 2026 when he became stone-faced in a manner eerily reminiscent of his July 27 episode on Capitol Hill.“Running for re-election in 2026,” a reporter answered.“Did you hear the question, Senator? Running for re-election in 2026?” a woman standing next to McConnell said.
After about 30 seconds, McConnell appeared to snap back to reality and took two additional questions. This is the second time this month this has happened on camera.
