Miley Cyrus performs onstage during the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential Center on Aug. 26, 2019 in Newark, N.J.appeared at the 2019 VMAs on Monday night for a powerful performance of her newest release, "Slide Away." The singer also revealed two brand-new tattoos, one on her bicep and the other on her hand.
The ink on her already-tatted arm reads in script, "My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free," which is a lyric from the 1990 track "The Thing" by theBoth were done by tattoo artist Winter Stone, who has also tattooed Lady Gaga, John Legend, Joe Jonas, and more. Stone did one of Cyrus' other tattoos, the smiley face on her inner arm.
For the special occassion, the star rocked a little black dress, layers of edgy jewelry, wet hair and glittery eyes.
