Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams died at the age of 36, days after he was removed from life support following a construction accident.
William played for Syracuse University three seasons before beginning his NFL career, which spanned from 2010 to 2016, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buffalo Bills. He was hospitalized last week after being injured in a construction accident, which left him paralyzed and on life support, per the Tampa Bay Times. He was taken off life support on Saturday and was breathing on his own while still in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.During Williams's five seasons playing in the league, he appeared in 63 games, had 3,089 receiving yards, and had 26 touchdowns.
He was a finalist for Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, receiving four of the 50 voters from media members, but lost to quarterback Sam Bradford.
