Trout’s two-run homer put the Angels on the board first. He hit homers to give the Angels leads they didn’t relinquish in all four of their victories in the series.
Rosenberg, a 26-year-old product of Cal State Northridge, was picked up by the Angels in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft from the Tampa Bay Rays last December.
“His location, his pitch selections, the shapes of his pitches, where he starts and where he finishes them, I think is really good,” Nevin said. “It’s hard to pitch in the Pacific Coast League, and you guys all see what his numbers are down there . He’s impressive. He’s impressed each time he’s come up. Today was a big start for us.”
“Anytime you go out and put up zeros, give the team a chance to win, it’s a good thing,” Rosenberg said. “I’m pleased. Still could have pitched a lot better, a couple of walks, a couple 0-2 pitches that I got away with, but in general I did a good job pitching to soft contact and giving the club a chance to win.”
