Weiss was charged with burglary and for being under the influence of meth by Marysville, California, police Sunday morning and his mugshot sparked national concern for the onetime child star.
"Shaun needs serious help," Gallagher tells USA TODAY."I'm asking people to help me help him. Wherever the need is most, that's where the money will go. He’s never hurt anyone, he’s such a good dude. He’s a pure human."Sunday's arrest came after a homeowner in the small northern California city of Marysville, outside of Sacramento, alerted police to"an unknown male inside his garage that did not belong there," according to a police media release.
Gallagher says Weiss became severely mentally troubled three years ago with the loss of his parents. That"sent him into depression and so he turned to drugs," Gallagher writes on the GoFundMe page.
