HMS Richmond used its Sea Ceptor missiles to shoot two Houthi drones in the Red Sea, defence minister Grant Shapps has said. Meanwhile, a US vessel carrying the first equipment for a temporary port has departed for Gaza.
A US army vessel has set off for Gaza carrying the first bits of equipment to build a temporary port which aims to deliver more humanitarian aid to the region, according to US Central Command .
The Open Arms, a salvage vessel owned by a Spanish NGO, has been moored at a port in the coastal Cyprus town of Larnaca, 210 miles northwest of Gaza. "We will continue our humanitarian efforts while we continue to dismantle Hamas military capabilities and do everything we can to bring our hostages home.": A temporary or floating dock is used to allow boats and ships to moor up further away from the shore - generally so they can stay in deep enough water.
The fleet of planes, led by Jordan, included those from Egypt, Belgium and Holland, as well as the USA.Lebanese security sources have said an Israeli strike has killed a family of five, Reuters reports. Although this aid will be invaluable, it only represents around 3% of Gaza's daily requirements. Bulk aid delivery by sea will not be viable until the US build their pontoon facility off-shore, but that will take weeks rather than days to reach initial operating capability.
