Microsoft earnings: What to expect as Azure, AI come into focus
As Microsoft Corp. gears up to report earnings in the present, it’s becoming ever harder for Wall Street not to get swept up by the future.
Microsoft MSFT is viewed as a huge potential artificial-intelligence beneficiary in the eyes of investors, but the company has its share of challenges in the near term. For one, the company’s Azure cloud-computing business has been in a slowdown, while the Windows business is in decline amid a tough market for personal computers.
Revenue: The FactSet consensus calls for $55.5 billion in June-quarter revenue, ahead of the $51.9 billion in revenue that Microsoft logged a year earlier. Those contributing to Estimize project $56.1 billion on average. What else to watch for While Guggenheim analyst John DiFucci anticipates a decline in the Windows business, he doubts it will be as steep as the low-to-mid-20% drop implied by the company’s forecast.
