Michigan State University will cover all hospital expenses for the five victims injured in the mass shooting on university campus that left three students dead.
Following the mass shooting on Feb. 13, three students remain in critical condition. One student who was previously stable is now in fair condition, while another who was in critical condition has now improved, and is considered to be in serious but stable condition, according to MSU's Police and Public Safety Department. Deputy Spokesperson Dan Olsen confirmed to State News that the university will cover the bills for the five students.
"After careful consideration and out of respect for the families, we wanted to inform the public and the media that MSU DPPS will not be confirming the names of the five victims in the hospital at this time," the department said via Twitter. International student John Hao, who was identified by his roommate through a GoFundMe, is currently paralyzed from the chest down after a bullet severed his spinal cord and injured his lungs, per the State News. Junior Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez has also been identified. Her sister, Selena, set up a GoFundMe, as well.
