Nine games into the new season and Beale has already come up with eight different drafts for his new look frontline
Michael Beale's been forced to go back to the drawing board so many times this season it’s a wonder the Rangers boss hasn’t worn out his pencil.
Beale opted to leave out last year’s talisman Todd Cantwell for the Premiership opener at Rugby Park, reckoning the ex-Norwich playmaker wouldn’t be best suited to the battle on Killie’s awkward astro. He was on target against Livi, though, as he, Danilo, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell all opened their accounts.
James Tavernier’s second-half header was enough to get Rangers through after Beale’s side went in 1-0 down at the break, although substitute Dessers could have spared his side some of the late nerves had he done better than tug another big chance against the post. This Viaplay Cup tie was a chance for some of Beale’s second string to impress against Dougie Imrie’s Championship side.
Beale had been keen to get the Senegalese international on board after seeing his potential during Gers 2021 Europa League clash with Slavia Prague.
