Dr. Charles S. Modlin, a urologist and kidney transplant surgeon at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, founded the Minority Men's Health Fair while still at the Cleveland Clinic. He will receive the Northwestern University 2023 Alumni Medal in October.

According to a news release, the Shaker Heights resident is also vice president and chief health equity officer at MetroHealth, where he develops programs that strengthen an inclusive and diverse culture and promote health equity for all.According to Northwestern, Modlin is a class representative for Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine. He was a member of Feinberg’s alumni board for three terms between 2007 and 2016.

“The fair moved to MetroHealth Medical Center when I joined that institution a few years back. It’s held every April at various MetroHealth locations,” Modlin said.“Receiving the Northwestern University Alumni Medal, which represents Northwestern University’s highest honor bestowed upon its alumni, in recognition of my life’s work and efforts to improve health in disadvantaged communities is humbling and rewardingm” he said.

“My parents, Charles and Grace Modlin, instilled within me that I must use my education to improve the lives of minority and underserved populations,” he said.
