The parent company of Facebook and Instagram has been accused in the federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday . Attorney generals from 33 states, including California and New York, endorsed the lawsuit., the officials signing the lawsuit said that Meta consistently deceived the public regarding the risks of its platforms. They alleged that Meta knowingly encouraged addictive and compulsive social media usage among young children and teenagers.
The accusations against the company also include employing addictive features to attract users while hiding the risks of its social media platforms.consumer protection laws by engaging in "deceptive" practices and unlawfully gathering data from children under 13, thus breaching the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
