The pursuit ended with the car in a bush in Bolton - a man has been arrested
The black car failed to stop when challenged by traffic cops and then sped away, prompting a dramatic high-speed pursuit.
It came to an end when the Mercedes careered off a carriageway last night and crashed into a bush. A man has been arrested and was being interviewed by detectives today .Greater Manchester Police tweeted brief details of the incident from its GMP Traffic account last night, including an image of the vehicle on the side of St Peter's Road after it had crashed into a bush.
The pursuit continued on foot but the suspect was eventually arrested by officers on the ground with the help of a police dog. The force said: "This Mercedes failed to stop for RPU patrol and hit speeds of 130mph on St Peter’s way in Bolton before the ability of the driver ran out and he crashed.GMP was a failing force before Chief Constable Stephen Watson was installed in 2021, and part of his driving to turn the force round was to beef up traffic policing which had been drastically cut before he came in.
