Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy recently revealed she did not use real ranch in her viral Saturday Night Live sketch. During her 2011 hosting gig on the long-running NBC variety show, McCarthy performed a sketch titled "Taste Test," in which she portrayed Linda, an overeager tester for Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing.

According to the comedy actor, her bottle was filled with Kefir, a fermented milk drink similar to yogurt. McCarthy admits she's "a big fan of HVR" but chose the substitute because "when you're shotgunning it down your throat, it's not pleasant.

McCarthy has since become a major comedy star in Hollywood, scoring lead roles in prominent films, including Identity Thief, Spy, and the Ghostbusters remake, while starring in the Emmy Award-nominated television series Mike & Molly. She recently featured in Disney's The Little Mermaid live-action remake as the evil sea witch Ursula alongside Halle Bailey.
