Marks is also the co-owner of Brooklyn’s Enlightenment Wines and Honey’s.Until recently, Da Prato cooked suppers in her loft in Brooklyn, or as pop-ups at restaurants around the city. Earlier this year, however, Da Prato moved permanently to Barga, where her family still lives. On June 9, she opened, a restaurant and bar in the town’s medieval piazza.

“I’ve always been really into flowers because my mom is crazy about flowers,” Da Prato tells me. “She used to make us little salads with pansies in them. She had this really elaborate flower garden and would have me talk to the flowers to help them grow, so I would talk to the flowers, and, of course, I would go to school in Texas and have the shit kicked out of me for talking to the flowers.”
