A recent Consumer Report report revealed the use of the harmful chemicals, known as PFAS, in the packaging of several large chains including Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, McDonald’s and Burger King.

They are called “forever chemicals” because they do not naturally break down in the environment, hang around and end up in our food and water supply. According to reports, many of us have already been exposed to the chemicals, and likely have some level of them in our blood. At McDonald’s, the highest level of the chemicals was reportedly found in bags of fries, cookies, chicken McNuggets and the Big Mac container. At Burger King, the list included the cookie, French toast stick bags, the Whopper wrapper and chicken nugget bags.
