Deegan says she knew it would take a coalition of all parties to win a tough race against Daniel Davis, and she admits that’s how she wanted to win.

She plans to speak with Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters soon and look past political rhetoric that got ugly during the campaign.

“In addition to putting more officers on the streets, we need to focus on things like literacy and food desserts and other things that contribute to what ultimately are higher crime numbers.”, Deegan said. Her first order of business will be to ‘open the blinds and let transparency in’, then quickly begin work on her three pillars which includes appointing a Chief Health Officer.Rich Jones is the Host of Jacksonville’s Morning News.
