What do you get when you combine Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Mother Nature, Saudi oil money and the Easter Bunny? The 2023 Masters. Bill_Shea19 on how those 'main characters' will impact the TV ratings for the tournament:

And if you cannot have the biggest names chasing glory on Sunday afternoon, then the next best thing is a compelling ending, which can be helped by savvy network storytelling — something at which the networks and talent like Jim Nantz excel. Thrillers top blowouts, unless your name is Tiger Woods, Lewis said.“Those are the ingredients. If you can’t have one, you want to have at least the other,” he said.

The media rights pact also has meant limited commercials, too: The lone advertisers permitted at Augusta and during the broadcasts have been Mercedes-Benz, IBM, Rolex, UPS and AT&T. The ad airtime is limited to about four minutes per hour, meaning commercial revenue is limited and largely covers network production costs.

How has the tournament fared with TV viewership amid all of the changes in how people consume entertainment and sports?
