Lindsay Brown sits behind the 16th tee during the Masters every year — and, as a result, has been caught on TV celebrating a dozen aces.
. If you look carefully at the videos from every ace at the 16th hole since 2004 — and, trust me on this, I’ve given them all the Zapruder Film treatment — you’ll find her.
“Right away, people were like, ‘We saw you on TV!’” she said. “And then I was just, like, I’m hooked. We’ve been here ever since. Just add it up since 2004. I’ve seen them all. I’ve seen them all.” Add it up: If Brown has been sitting in her spot at 16 since 2004, she has seen exactly half of the aces ever recorded at this tournament — and, somehow, none of them are even her favorite Masters moment. That came in 2019, when a friend of a friend asked her to reserve a seat for a famous visitor.“Michael Phelps comes up and says, ‘Hi, are you Lindsay? I was told to ask for you,’” Brown said.
Brown was not expecting any hole-in-one excitement during the third round. The pin placement, on the far right of the green in a spot protected by the sand trap, meant that those famous Augusta shots with the ball tracking toward the cup as if pulled on a string would not be happening. She expected it to be much different in the final round.Still, each time the players approached the tee, she sprang into action.
