“If you can’t afford to take care of your pets please don’t turn non-native species loose into our environment!” the Steele Fire Department said.

That’s just the issue Steele Fire Department faced this week when reports of a 12-foot python began circulating. The snake, possibly dumped or escaped from an owner, was captured in an industrial area in the St. Clair County town after an “interesting 24 hours for our crew.”The fire department also had a message for anyone who might own a non-native species as a pet.
