A massive fire is under control in Queens, but the cleanup will take a while for some businesses. KevRincon has the story from downtown Flushing:
"We will be here for most of the day, if not through the night. Once the fire is completely extinguished, we will have DOB evaluate the structure and then see what kind of searches we can undertake," FDNY Acting Chief Richard Blatus said. "We have no reports of injuries, no reports of missing civilians at this time. But we expect it to be an extended operation," Blatus added.
Ung said, because of that, it's not only the shops inside the commercial space, but businesses surrounding it that have been impacted, as well. As people tried to get through their morning routine, the 7 line and the LIRR did not stop there. Instead, they passed through the area because of the smoke.
"As a New Yorker, you've got to know how to be flexible and move around," resident Yhamir Chabur said.
