Families who lost loved ones in Uvalde plead with school board to make changes, fire police chief
Brett Cross, whose nephew, Uziyah Garcia, was killed with 18 other students at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on May 24, speaks during a school board meeting on Monday, June 20, 2022. He wants answers about how the tragic incident happened.
The speakers, eight in all, called on the officials to make the district’s schools more secure — and to fire district Police Chief Pedro “Pete” Arredondo. “And not cooperating with the investigations that are ongoing is also quite disheartening,” he said. “Innocence doesn’t hide. Innocence doesn’t change its story. But innocence did die on May 24 at Robb Elementary.”
