The Marvel Cinematic Universe is working on building up its Midnight Sons monsters group, but Morbius can't fit in after the Sony movie ruined him.
Sony has ruined Morbius to the point where there is little chance it could ever fit into Marvel's Midnight Sons line of monster characters. Thanks to the negative reaction to the movie, and the positive reaction from critics to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's mystical stories, it shows how much Sony messed up the character in the grand scheme of things.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Morbius hit theaters in 2022 and was considered a commercial and critical bomb. While fans have it sitting at 71 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, its $73 million at the domestic box office makes the movie a flop based on its $75 million production budget. That was even after a second release by the studio after memes began popping up online. From critics, Morbius generated bad reviews and sits at a low 16 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Doctor Strange was the first real magical hero in the MCU. Sam Raimi directed the second movie in that franchise, and Strange proved to be a hero solidly straddling the line between superhero adventures and horror. One of Marvel's critically acclaimed releases hit before Halloween 2022 with Werewolf by Night. This series introduced one of Marvel's key horror characters in Jack Russell's tragic werewolf.
Morbius Can Never Join The MCU Midnight Sons The MCU world of monsters could easily fit in the Marvel Comics version of Michael Morbius but the Sony version would never fit. This was evident by the way the two studios treated the Marvel monsters. In Morbius, Sony created a world that never took the Living Vampire seriously. The movie jumped from some horrific moments that took place on the boat where Michael got his powers to a jumbled story that never really connected the dots.
There is no way this character could fit into what the MCU has built. One thing the MCU has done with its supernatural heroes is to bring them along slowly and deliberately. Doctor Strange was around for a couple of years before the monster heroes showed up. Thanks to Sam Raimi, the Master of the Mystic Arts helped lead the MCU directly into the realm of horror.
