A big difference

The annual is part of the Contest of Chaos, pitting Marvel’s heaviest hitters against each other, thanks to the manipulations of Agatha Harkness.
The events of Invincible Iron Man Annual #1 – written by Jason Loo, drawn by David Cutler, colored by Bryan Valenza and lettered by Joe Caramagna – feature Iron Man and Storm drawn by a mysterious force to a giant crystal cave in Mexico. While the annual ends with many questions unanswered, the issue's set up does allow for a tense exchange between leading members of Marvel's two premiere teams.
Storm Has a Point About The Avengers The Avengers and the X-Men are Marvel’s top two superhero teams, and over the years both have grown to become massive franchises, with multiple titles and media adaptations. Typically, the Avengers embody law and order; on many occasions, the team has worked under the auspices of Earth's governments. On the other side, the X-Men have largely lived as outlaws and renegades, hated and feared by humanity all over the world.
Storm’s criticism of the Avengers as authoritarian is not without merit. Iron Man arrogantly charged into the situation, and tried to take control of it, only to find himself way in over his head. Rather than attempt to work with Storm to find a solution, he automatically declared it an Avengers-related matter and began calling in the big guns.
Moving forward, Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Marvel's iconic mutant team will continue to intermingle, with Iron Man in particular becoming an important figure in the mutant world, as he is set to marry Emma Frost. However, that doesn't mean the possibility for conflict ceases. With the X-Men decimated by the Orchis assault at the Hellfire Gala, tensions between mutants and humanity are at an all-time high.
